Suggestions for Success in the Laundry Room
Here are some helpful tips for success in the laundry room:
- Only do your laundry when you have enough time, you don't want wet clothes in your room or stuck in the laundry room for everyone to see!
- Set an alarm for 5 minutes before your laundry will be done in both the washer and the dryer. That gives you enough time to get to the laundry room and move your stuff because no one wants to lug all of their stuff down there only to find all of the washers full of already done laundry.
- An alarm is a good idea if you don't want to find your wet/dry clothes lying on one of the tables because you forgot about them.
- Follow the instructions on how much detergent to use, a little goes a long way!
- Be considerate of your fellow dorm members and don't take their clothes out of the washer or dryer unless it has been sitting there for an extended period of time. Give them a chance to retrieve their clothes first. (This can be prevented by following suggestion #2)
- Don't wait until your laundry is overflowing in your room to start. Keep on top of it and the whole process will go much smoother!
- The timers on the dryers count up from zero and usually end at around 50 minutes, so please plan accordingly!
- Please leave the washing machine doors open after using them, or they will become moldy, musty, and they will make your clothes stink.
